Gun ownership and rights is a very hot topic in America due to recent events of gun violence. Due to the violence people have caused recently some members of the America public are scared of guns and have brought it to the attention of their state representatives to tighten the rules and regulations associated with gun ownership. People have many misconceptions about guns and their uses, this is why I choose this issue. Not all guns are created equal and not all guns are used for killing people. While most peoples fears stem from handguns and their ability to be concealed on someones person that same possibility is not valid for a long gun. People have not made this clear that there is a difference and now the government is working on creating tougher regulations on all guns, rifles and shotguns included. I wrote this blog because people need to see the difference between handguns and long guns and that the regulations should be kept the same for rifles and shotguns during this time of tougher regulations. I wrote a letter to Governor Martin O'Malley because he has openly expressed his views on gun control and the second amendment and I think it is important to write to him to show that all people are not using guns for violence and the regulations are going to cut into some peoples use of guns for sport and collection purposes. Some other options while writing this letter could be groups who support guns such as the NRA or writing to your local delegate. If you would like to get involved in this debate I would recommend doing a lot of research to see what things are changing or in the danger zone for changing and then write to your local delegate about why you think they shouldn't change or why you disagree with what is going on in he government about this issue.
